Harry Tai

Piano

Tai studied piano at the early age. In 2006, he was admitted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Music Course as a junior music student, and studied with Mr. KinWai Shum. Tai graduated with Diploma in Performing Arts (Music) and the Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2015 and 2019, and under the tutelage of Professor Gabriel Kwok, the Head of the Keyboard Studies of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Tai’s achievements at the HKAPA are well recognized. He was awarded The Society of APA Scholarships and participated in masterclasses with many famous pianists and teachers. Including Eleanor Wong, Aquiles Delle Vigne, Manfred Fock, Graham Scott, Ronan O’Hora, Vanessa Latarche, Lea Agmon, Ilja Scheps and Lee Kum Sing etc. After completed his Bachelor’s degree, Tai achieved outstanding results and is the only winner awarded the 2019/2020 Molly McAulay Memorial Full Scholarship, which continue and support his studies in Sydney, Australia. Currently, Tai studying the Master of Music Studies (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatory of Music, studies with famous Australian pianist Daniel Herskovitch.

Tai completed several achievements during his piano journey. In 2012-14, he participated the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) International Music Festival in Yeoncheon, South Korea. In 2014, Tai awarded the Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) with Distinction. In 2015, he participated in the Singapore International Youth Piano Competition (Open Class and Youth Class) and won the 1st runner-up. In 2019, he participated in the Salzburg Mozarteum Summer Academy, under the guidance of Professor Andreas Frölich. He was invited to perform two solo piano recitals in the Bösendorfer Recital Hall and Wiener Recital Hall in the Salzburg Mozarteum. In the same year, Tai was invited to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to perform “For Double String Orchestra, Piano and Timpani” Double Concerto by Bohuslav Martinu, with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and conducted by the Dean of the School of Music, Dr. Sharon Choa, which was widely praised.
